We headed off in the Cool of the night as Mildura and South Australia were suffering heat in the 40's, so the first thing
we did is go to Swan Reach on the saturday night to sleep and early in the morning headed for the beach.
At Swan Reach, as it was hot at 11m, we Pulled into the Park side and went swimming in the roped off part the Park. (More
information on Swan Reach on return Journey.). We then Parked over the River at the free camping area near the Ferry.

Because we were not on a tour of the Riverland, just passing through, it was quicker for us to leave the Riverland at Walker
Flat, (More on Walker Flat on our return journey), and head towards Adelaide till we found the Murray Bridge/Sedan Road and
turned to Murray Bridge. By doing this the road was not as hilly and was much quicker.
Jumping onto the Highway we headed towards Adelaide looking for the Strathalbyn turn off. From this point on we were
in the hills and we soon new it.
Although which ever direction we headed we were going to strike hills, we headed straight towards Old Noarlunga intending
to start our beach holiday there and work our way south. In foresight I now know that with such a large vehicle I would have
been better heading straight to Goolwa and coming around the Peninsula and north to Adelaide. It is still hilly but nowhere
near as bad.
But we turned at Strathalbyn on a hilly, windy trek through the town of Meadows and Mclaren Vale to Old Noarlinga. Where
we checked out the beaches & shops for the day from here to Sellicks Beach.
I do not believe that there is a beach in Victoria that compares to some of the beaches in this area, beaches like Aldinga
Beach and Maslin Beach, (Southern side of this beach is clothes optional), are clean, sandy beaches and the water and sea
bed is un-poluted. The backdrop of cliffs make a lovely backdrop.

Sunday night we 'Rested' at Mclaren Vale in the back of the supermarket carpark.
To explain 'Rested', camping is not allowed in certain area's but camping is defined as fixing something to the land such
as a peg. A caravan is an attached item to your vehicle. A motorhome is your legal mode of transport, and by law is you
are in control of a vehicle and are suffering fatigue, been drinking or any other ailment that may cause an accident then
the government tells you to 'Take a break'. And if you are asked to move on after explaining you are legally obliged to
take a rest then that officer may be liable if you have an accident. they can only ask. But let me also point out that most
police officers are fair understanding people, and there are some in the motorhome association I understand, and you will
find that they will leave you alone as long as there is not a complaint or you are not obstructing people.
